AI Tech Doctor is built to help you understand your device's health. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect your privacy.
What We Collect
Device Diagnostic Data
When you run a check-up, the app reads information about your device's current state: internet connectivity and speed, Wi-Fi connection quality, storage usage, battery level and charging state, and memory and processor load.
This data is used to generate your health score and recommendations. Diagnostic data stays on your device by default unless you choose to enable cloud sync.
AI Chat Conversations
When you use the AI assistant, your messages are sent to our backend to generate a response. We send your message text (up to 1,000 characters per message), recent conversation history, a summary of your latest scan results (if available), and your chosen explanation style.
We do not store your conversation content on our servers after the response is generated. Messages exist only in your device's memory during the current session and are cleared when you close the app.
Data Breach Checking
When you use the Breach Checker feature, your email address is sent securely through our server to Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) to check if it appears in known data breaches. HIBP does not store query emails. Our server proxies the request so the API key is never exposed to the client. We do not store the email addresses you check.
Spam & Phishing Checking
When you use the Spam Checker feature, the content you submit (message text, URL, or phone number) is sent to our AI service for analysis. We do not store the content you submit after the analysis is complete.
Account Data
If you create an account, we store your email address, authentication method, and subscription status. Creating an account is optional — the app works fully without one.
Usage Data
We track your daily AI message usage count on your device to enforce fair-use limits (5 messages/day on Free, 50 messages/day on Pro). This data is stored locally and resets daily.
Usage Analytics
We may collect anonymous usage events to improve the app, such as feature usage counts and AI helpfulness ratings. We do not link analytics to your personal identity.
Advertising
The free version of AI Tech Doctor displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. Google may collect and use device identifiers, IP address, and usage data to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your device settings. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy.
On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission before enabling personalised ads. If you decline, non-personalised ads are shown instead.
What We Do Not Collect
- Photos, videos, or media files
- Contacts or messages
- Browsing history
- Location data (except temporarily for Wi-Fi identification on iOS)
- Passwords or financial data
- The content of your AI conversations after the response is delivered
Third-Party Services
- Supabase — authentication, cloud sync, and serverless functions. Data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI chat responses
- Google AdMob — advertising for free-tier users
- Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) — breach database lookups
- Apple App Store — subscription payments and billing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption, secure API key management, and row-level security policies. In the event of a confirmed data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users via email within 72 hours.
Data Retention
- Diagnostic scans: stored on your device until you delete them or sign out
- Account data: retained until you delete your account
- AI conversations: not retained after response delivery
- Analytics data: retained in anonymised, aggregated form
Children's Privacy
AI Tech Doctor is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at support@aitechdoctor.com if you believe a child has provided us with personal data.
Your Rights
All Users
- Delete your scan history at any time from Settings
- Delete your account and all associated data from the Account screen
- Disable cloud sync and notifications at any time in Settings
- Use the app without creating an account
European Economic Area (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, you have additional rights including: the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and the right to object. Contact us at support@aitechdoctor.com and we will respond within 30 days.
California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell your data. Contact support@aitechdoctor.com to submit a request.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email.
